GERMAN LAENDER BAVARIA AND THURINGIA REJECT RUSSIAN SANCTIONS

Last Thursday I blogged about the increasing opposition in Europe to the sanctions regime on Russia, and on the increasing role of France in leading European opposition to the diktats of Washington and the globalist regime that it fronts for. I also did my News and Views from the Nefarium about this topic, and about my suspicions that we are witnessing the beginning of a long term game. In short, my thesis is (1) that the European powers, like Russia, have analyzed the American "deep state" and financial structure, and concluded that the US federal government is but a front for a massive, interlocked, globalist corporate structure with, yes, a strong Fascist component or faction, and that this structure is (2) inimical not only to Europe's cultural and economic interests, but to the national interests of its member nations, and particularly to the major continental economies and powers: France, Italy, Germany, and Spain.  I advanced the hypothesis in my last News and Views that we can expect, over time, an increasing public analysis and opposition to this structure along the lines of the critiques of the globalist dogma that (American-centered) global corporations should run everything, and as well critiques of the globalist dogma that the nation-state is obsolete.

Along these lines, there is growing local opposition to the sanctions regime against Russia from various German Laender (states), in this article shared by Mr. B:

The heart of the problem is suggested by this paragraph:
Led by Bodo Ramelow, the governor of Thuringia, and Wolfgang Tiefensee, minister of economic affairs, an economic and scientific delegation of about 40 members has arrived in Moscow on Sunday. Tiefensee insists on building bridges to Moscow despite all geopolitical problems.
...
Sanctions are naturally still to be perceived, continues Tiefensee: “We have a share of 3% of Thuringia’s GDP, that is generated by the relationships between Thuringia and Russia. This seems little, but if you take a look at various enterprises, for example in the branches of nutrition, car industry, metal industry, machine construction or optics, you will see enterprises that are significantly suffering under the sanctions. They have to arrange short-time working, they lose jobs and have to orient themselves in another way”.

He therefore hopes for a rapid loosening or removal of the sanctions: “To us Russia is a very pleasant partner. Russians are wonderful, hospitable and open people. I am glad that we can strengthen our relationship even at such difficult times”. (Emphasis added)

There are really two issues here, and one is the growing movement in Europe to bypass the central governments and even the European commission and conduct affairs on a local or state-provincial level. If the central government is unresponsive to the genuine wishes and interests of the people, then simply ignore them and go around them.

But the second issue cuts much deeper, and herewith is my high octane speculation of the day. As noted above, I suggested in last Thursdays News and Views from the Nefarium that one would eventually see the emergence of an anti-globalist critique similar in nature to that which has been consistently voiced by Mr. Putin, and his advisors such as Foreign Minister Lavrov, and economics advisor Sergei Glazyev, and more recently by Prime Minister Orban of Hungary. This critique has zeroed in on the ability of of globalist corporate elite to govern with a view to the interests of the people it purports to represent. This, of course, has been an impossibility all along, and everyone knows it. No corporate chater enshrines a Bill of Rights. People are nothing but "human resources," chattle, to corporations, and particularly global ones. One need only look at the miserable track record of agribusiness giants like IG Farbensanto and the GMO issue in general.

In addition to this, I've entertained the notion that, in one respect, the Muslim refugee crisis is being driven in Europe  precisely in order to create a "European identity" as opposed to the various national identities of Europe, precisely in order to give a cultural and civilizational cohesion to the continent and to the European Union that it currently lacks. This is hinted at in the article itself:

The highlight of the Moscow-visit — the performance of Bach’s “Reformation cantata” in the Lutheran St. Peter-and-Paul cathedral in Moscow — gave the trip a symbolic note. It was said, as well as the Cranach-exhibition in Moscow with paintings from Goethe’s collection, the event should call up for cultural and spiritual unity.

In his greeting the governor of Thuringia Bodo Ramelov appealed for love to ones neighbours despite all differences: “I’ve brought the original facsimile Bible of Martin Luther as a present. Afore I’ve given the same example to Pope Francis. As an evangelic Christian I am especially excited for the 500-year anniversary of our Reformation — it is not a distinguishing, but a uniting feast of all the people, who both want and must endure their differences in their believe(sic)”.

In other words, "European culture" is big enough to embrace Russia.

So how might all this play out? What's the high octane speculation? Well, it is simply this: if that anti-globalist critique begins to be voiced in other European countries besides Hungary, then that critique will come from localities and regions, such as the German Laender, or the French political-bureaucratic class. It will begin quietly, but I suspect that it is an inevitability. Europeans are tired of falling on their swords for Washington and NATO. And increasingly, they are aware that the real government of the USSA isn't in Washington, and that it's dangerously out of control.  The critique will be the beginning of a process of breaking from it.

See you on the flip side...
