A massive banner praising Russian President
Vladimir Putin as a “peacemaker” was hung from the Manhattan Bridge on Thursday
afternoon.

At around 1:45 p.m., a 20 foot by 30 foot
banner, featuring a photo of Putin with Russian and Syrian flags
as the background was hung over the Brooklyn side of the bridge.
Over an hour later, at around 3 p.m., the
banner was removed by city officials, but not before plenty
of onlookers grabbed photos to post on social media.
This just dropped on the Manhattan Bridge. Living in some weird and scary times.
Witnesses told the New York Post that they saw two
men hanging it.

Deaf to Putin's Call on Syria
“We
were just at our desks, we have some large windows from our
office and we just saw it going up,” Quinn Formel, 27, told The Post.
“These two guys … they were struggling for a
little bit, but eventually got it [the banner] up,” he said. “We realized
it was Putin and it was the Russian flag and it said ‘peacemaker’ and then
after that we were all confused about what this is supposed
to be saying or expressing — it’s not very clear.” The New York
Police Department does not have anyone in custody and are currently
reviewing surveillance footage in an attempt to find the culprits.
